The 19th Non Aligned Movement (NAM) summit has today kicked off at Speke Resort Munyonyo with over 1000 delegates in attendance.

 

The conference is under the theme;“Deepening cooperation for shared Global Affluence.”

 

Among other delegates so far present are from Libya,Lisotho,Iran, Indonesia, Morocco,Equatorial-Guinea, Chile, Venezuela,Vietnam,Algeriaand Afghanistan.

 

President YoweriKagutaMuseveni is now the chair of NAM upto 2026 from Azerbaijan which has been the chair.

 

Journalists have been stationed at hotel Africana in Kampala from where they will be are following all the proceedings to inform the public.

 

While opening this year’s NAM the minister for foreign affairs Jejeodongo appealed to delegates to put focus on the similar challenges around the world including conflicts in different countries, insecurity, migration and employment, health pandemic, climatic change, terrorism, financing for development among others.

 

He also encouraged delegates to explore other parts of the country so as to enjoy the beauty in Uganda.
