President Yoweri Museveni has advised the church to always be balanced when condemning government.

Museveni made the remarks while addressing the congregation during the commemoration of Church of Uganda’s Archbishop Janani Luwum’s day at State House Entebbe on Tuesday.

Museveni said that some religious leaders have made it a habit of speaking unfairly about government, army and police forgetting those who attack them or cause chaotic situations in the country.

He cited a woman who was undressed because of wearing a yellow T-Shirts and others who were beaten by mob.

It’s from here that he appealed to church and clergies to be fair when condemning the government during their services.

Meanwhile he has also pledged to the country that no one will destabilize the peace of Uganda in spite of receiving intelligence reports of plotted schemes to disturb Ugandans.

The day is commemorated on February 16 as a public holiday since 2015 in Luwumu’s memory.

On this day 44-years-ago, Archbishop Janani Luwum was murdered together with the former Inspector General of Police Wilson Erinayo Oryema, and former Defence Minister Charles Oboth Ofumbi on orders of former Ugandan President Idi Amin. His crime was criticizing the excesses of Idi Amin’s regime that assumed power in 1971.
