President Yoweri Museveni has promised Ugandans for high class infrastructures starting with modern roads in and around Kampala to address delays due to traffic jam.

Museveni said that working with Japanese and Chinese governments, more roads will be constructed within the central and out of the Kampala business area to improve on road network, save time and investment.

He said this while at Nakivubo Blue Primary School in the city center launching the construction of a UGX 300bn highway flyover project that is to cover Clock Tower- Shoprite along Queen’s Way towards Katwe and parts of Nsambya, Mukwano industrial.

This is the first phase of the construction of flyovers within Kampala and another one will be constructed around Kitigum junction covering the electoral commission, leading the traffic flow out of the city to the Jinja highway.

The Clock tower project that is to be constructed by Shimizu-Konoike JK under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is expected to take 36 months and it will the road from Shoprite at Queen’s Way towards Katwe side into duo lanes, Nsambya Mukwano and Ggaba roads.

President Museveni also congratulated Ugandans upon reaching this Christmas season calling for vigilance in as far as individual security is concerned besides government CCTV connectivity to help security agencies in following and managing criminality.
