President Yoweri Museveni has commissioned a Solar Park Project in Kabulasoke, Gomba district with assurance to Ugandans of reduced power tariffs once the project is completed.

In his speech at the launch of a pilot solar plant of 20Mega Watts, Museveni said that power tariffs will be reduced in phases and over time especially of Hydro power which is the major source of power in the country.

The construction of this project worth 24.5m USD approximately to 91.4bnshs was launched by the Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi in November last year and being constructed by Xsabo Group covering at least 120 acres.

The Pilot Solar Power Park in Kabulasoke is owned by a Uganda based in Germany, Dr David Alobo and categorized as the largest solar power park in East and Central Africa.

Museveni now believes that a total of 17,000 homes in the Sub Counties of Gomba district will be able to improve their farming production with the coming of such infrastructures like the solar power and roads.
