President Museveni has identified three pillars; education, training and equipping security forces and exploring modern technology as areas that will help the country get rid of insecurity.

Referring to bits of history, Museveni boasted of a professional army they resolved since 1991 that is limited in number but has efficiently fought insurgency of LRA, ADF, Kings Riffle and kingdoms armies that had not helped Uganda be peaceful for the last 500 years.

He says with the institution of professional fields within the army like the air force, commandos, artillery and the newest the mountain warfare brigade UPDF has the capacity to crush any terrorist.

In special address to Parliament and the country this afternoon about the state of security in the country Museveni said the security the country has enjoyed since 2007 is being compromised due to lack of vigilance by the public and police is the challenge.

Negligence and collusion by some of the security forces’ members with criminal elements he noted especially after the killing of high profile members, AIGP Andrew Kaweesi and Maj. Kiggundu once addressed the country will be secured

 

He has directed that all fire arms within the security forces be finger printed, installation of; electronic number plates by all motorists, CCTVs on town roads and streets, introduction of drones at least 131 at the start, having a modern forensic laboratory and scanners at all boarder areas and control on the use of social media among others means as supplementary measures to curb criminality.
