Specialists at Kiruddu Hospital are said to be confused on how to proceed with the treatment of Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze after they failed to locate her veins, making it impossible for them to administer drugs to relieve her back pain.

Nambooze was last Friday scheduled to travel back to India for review following a successful spine operation in November last year at Manipal Hospital where metals were inserted in her back following the September 27 parliamentary fracas.

Nambooze was arrested on June 13th over computer misuse and inciting violence in relation to her social media posts about the murder of Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga.

One of the senior nurses handling the MP said they have been trying all possible ways since Monday to find veins where to administer pain killer drugs in vain.

Meanwhile Police have denied having blocked Nambooze from traveling abroad for further treatment.

Speaking at the Human Rights Commission dialogue last evening, police head of human rights, AIGP Erasmus Twaruhukwa said they have not yet received any formal communication from the legislator or her lawyers regarding her intention to travel abroad for further treatment but they are getting it in rumours.

Twaruhukwa also informed the gathering that police hold suspects beyond the mandatory 48 hours, because of the prolonged investigations but release them on bond in case they failed to substantially conclude the investigations.”
