President Yoweri Museveni has commissioned St. Cosma Medical Clinic Kamaggwa in Kyotera district that was established by His Eminence Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala to provide health services to the community.

According to the Ministry of Health, the facility which is at level three standards was named in memory of Cardinal Wamala’s parents, the late Cosma Kyamera and Theresa Namayanja (who was a traditional birth attendant).

Museveni who also contributed Shs 125 million towards equipping the facility was represented by the Vice President Jessica Alipo.

Museveni has credited the spirited effort by Cardinal Wamala to transform Ugandans.

He hailed the friends of Bishops led by the Papal Knight Emmanuel Katongole for their supportive hand in changing the lives of Christians in all aspects of life through the Bishops.

He says NRM has prioritized health because a healthy population is an asset to national growth and development; however people need to guard against Non Communicable Diseases that are as a result of poor diet and later lack of exercising.

He reiterated his call for wealth creation per household starting with Government programs put in place to fight poverty.

Earlier in the day, the Bishop of Masaka Diocese, Rt. Rev. Serverus Jjumba blessed St. Cosma Medical Clinic Kamaggwa saying Cardinal’s family is credited for the assistance and support to the Church and the community.

The health facility can admit expectant mothers, immunize and undertake simple medical treatments.
