The Rotary Club of Sonde in Mukono municipality have partnered with Youth Rising, a Non-Government Organization to buy books in the community library at Salaama village in Ntenjeru-Kisoga Town Council, Mukono district to enhance the reading culture among learners especially in village settings during holidays.

Rotary District Governor for Uganda Hon. Mike Kennedy Sebalu says that Rotary is committed to increase literacy levels in the next generation thus appealing to the government and local governments to set aside a budget meant for the procurement of reading materials to learners especially in less privileged communities.

Sebalu says the government must ensure quality assessment to avoid content available to learners which could be against the religious values and or introduce young ones to vices like homosexuality.

Local leaders led by Margret Musuuza, the woman councilor for Ntenjeru-Kisoga Town Council expressed gratitude for the initiative saying it has already started yielding positive results in terms of child behavior.

Some of the parents led by Richard Rwantalindwa want men to be brought on board because they contribute to a larger group of persons who perpetuate child negligence.
