The executive administration of Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) has demanded on the Office of the Vice Chancellor to lift the suspension of its Chairman, Dr. Deus Kamunyu Muhwezi.

Dr. Kamunyu was suspended by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe for alleged incitement with intention to cause disobedience among the staff, using abusive language and making false statements.

Addressing the media at Makerere Staff Canteen, the MUASA Vice Chairman Edward Mwavu says that Kamunyu treated an individual yet he has been operating on behalf of the association.

He adds that they will continue with their industrial action that commenced on January 19th against an article in the new Human Resource act that was allows the management to suspend any staff that could be sued in courts of law.

However, he calls on the administration to dialogue with the staff over these unsorted matters that are still affecting them.
