The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has advised the Makerere University Vice Chancellor Professor Barnabas Nawangwe to desist from acts of suspending lecturers saying they won’t help in solving the problems facing the institution.

Speaking to the press at the FDC headquarters in Najjanankumbi, the party spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda said that the only solution to lecturers’ impending strike is to sit with them and deal with their challenges amicably rather than suspending them.

He also adds that the shillings 2.9 billion that the lecturers are demanding as salary enhancement is not much compared to the money President Museveni has given to various Saccos in and around Kampala.

His comments come at a time when lecturers at Makerere University have threatened to lay down their tools if the university administration fails to address their concerns in 14 days.
