More MTN employees, one of Uganda’s biggest telecom companies are being investigated for using their positions to allegedly compromise National Security.

The employees whose identities are still being withheld by security have recorded statements with the Special Investigations Unit of Uganda Police. Others are yet to be summoned.

The investigations started in July 2018 after operatives from the Security Organization (ISO) raided the MTN Data center in Mutundwe, a Kampala suburb and confiscated servers.

Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, says investigations are ongoing with the team supervised by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Sabiiti Muzeeyi.

Just last week, three senior MTN employees including Elsa Mussolini, an Italian national and General Manager Mobile Finance Services, Olivier Pentout, French national and MTN Chief marketing officer and Annie Bilenge Tabura, Rwandan national and head of sales and distribution were deported to their respective countries.
