Msgr. Francis Xavier Mpanga has been elected Kasana-Luweero Diocesan Administrator.

Rev. Fr. Cyril Kasigwa, the Kasana-Luweero Diocesan Chancellor announced the news last night at around 9.53pm, to the staff of Kasana-Luweero diocese in a statement a copy of which Radio Sapientia has received.

Msgr. Mpanga has been the Vicar General of Kasana-Luweero diocese since March 2020 after he was appointed by now the former bishop of Kasana-Luweero diocese Paul Ssemogerere, following the retirement of Msgr. Matthias Kanyerezi who had held that position and also served as the diocesan administrator for Two years between 2006 and 2008.

Fr. Kasigwa reveals that the Board of Consultors sat on Friday, January 28, 2022 and conducted the elections from where Msgr. Mpanga was elected, requesting the diocese to pray for him as he assumes his new role.

Last Tuesday, on January 25, during the installation of His Grace Paul Ssemogerere as the new Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese at Lubaga Cathedral, His Excellency Most Rev. Luigi Bianco, the Papal Nuncio to Uganda said that Kasana-Luweero Diocesan Board of Consultors would elect the Diocesan Administrator.

This was after the bishop’s seat remained vacant following the appointment of bishop Ssemogerere as Archbishop Kampala, after 13 years of service as Bishop of Kasana Luwero diocese since 2008.
