The Secretary General of the Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC) Msgr. John Baptist Kauta has encouraged Catholic Media to explore knowledge as one of the great resource in their daily life while executing their roles.

While officiating at the opening of a workshop for Radio and TV managers from Catholic media at Namugongo Kyooto on how to run such institutions as business entities, he said the three pillars of any media; education, informing and forming can never be strengthened without searching for knowledge coupled with cohesion as a media in this era.

Msgr. Kauta said Catholic media has to be strong, a source of truth, hope and a means of transformation of the society for example like now in Uganda where society is at crossroads due to party politics, guidance and answers must be provided through the Catholic Media to help society stay together.

He said remaining focused on the catholic principles is the key as it is demanded by the second Vatican Council that priorities communication in the new evangelization by Saint Pope John Paul II, Pope Emeritus Benedict 16th and now Pope Francis.

The head of the Communication Commission at the Uganda Episcopal Conference, Rev. Fr. Philip Odii said the founders of the workshop; the Conference of the United States Catholic Bishops wants to build a human resource that is able to identify business opportunities for the media that has proved so important under the Covid-19 era.

Failure to sustain it, identify fake news, guide and support its staff and society the Church would be blamed for not answering the need of the second Vatican council.
