Members of Parliament sitting on the Parliamentary Budget Committee have rejected the Budget Framework Paper proposal of the next financial year 2024/2025 of shillings 54 trillion from the Ministry of Finance.

This was after officials from the Finance Ministry led by the State Finance Minister in charge of General Duties Henry Musasizi presented the Budget Framework Paper of shillings 54 trillion contrary to the first one tabled of shillings 52.7 trillion.

One of the committee members, the Bukoto East MP, Evans Kanyike says that they will not allow themselves to be manipulated by Finance Ministry officials who are now smuggling in items to inflate the budget for their personal benefits.

He says instead of the Government increasing the next financial year budget 2024/2025, they should rather focus on cost deductions like reducing the number of Ministers, RDCs, Presidential Advisors among others.

Consequently, the Budget Committee of Parliament suspended the sitting to allow the Finance Ministry to review their budget proposal in line with the original 52 trillion budget framework paper that was tabled in Parliament first.
