The Parliamentary Budget Committee chaired by the Kachumbala County representative in Bukedea district, Patrick Isiagi has rejected a supplementary budget request of 152 billion shillings for the National Council of Sports, citing irregularities.
The request was made by the State Minister of Finance in charge of General Duties, Henry Musasizi, on behalf of the National Council of Sports.
However, Isiagi accused Musasizi of attempting to circumvent parliamentary procedures by presenting the request without proper documentation.
Meanwhile, Buikwe South MP, Dr. Lulume Bayiga also criticized Musasizi for attempting to push through the supplementary budget without following proper channels.
The supplementary budget includes allocations for various entities, including; 132 billion shillings for the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), 2 billion shillings for the Uganda Blood Transfusion Services and 1 billion shillings for Uganda’s mission in Geneva, Switzerland.
The request was approved by Cabinet on May 13th, 2024.
