The movers of the censor motion against the State Minister for Housing Persis Namuganza have faced a deadlock to convince the select committee chaired by Mwine Mpaka on the evidence tabled before the committee justifying the cause of censuring the minister.

This was as a result of the committee on Thursday embarked on the process of gathering and interrogating all interested witnesses in the allegations that Namuganza at one time used a language that demeaned and disrespected the institution of parliament and the leadership of parliament.

The mover of the motion Amos Okot has been the first person to appear before the committee where he tabled evidence which included video clips that seemed un-justifying to the committee and in un-parliamentary language which forced the chairperson Mwine Mpaka to direct the movers to take the footage for translation to Makerere colleague of language and later retable their evidence in the committee.

Another member of the committee and MP for Ndorwa East Wilfred Niwagaba tasked the witnesses who included Yonna Musinguzi of Ntugamo Municipality, Dan Kimasho of Kazo county, Gilbert Oulanya of Kilak South and Geoffrey Macho of Busia Municipality to justify by quoting in the constitution how the alleged misconduct of Minister Namuganza violated the constitution amounting to censuring which they failed to prove.

Meanwhile, Namuganza is expected to appear before the committee for fair hearing on Friday after which the committee will proceed to write a report as directed by the Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa before the expiry of 15 days.
