A section of Members of Parliament have called on President Museveni to revise his directive of banning public transport and some traders.

 

Addressing journalist at parliament, MPs who included Makindye west Mp Allan Ssewanyana, Kampala Central Muhammad Nsereko, Rubaga North Mp Moses Kasibante , Busiya Municipality Mp Geoffrey Macho say that the directive has paralyzed everything among others the income of Ugandans and the economy at large.

 

Nsereko adds that government would have given an ultimatum in which Ugandans would prepare for the directive.

 

They have also said that the measures affect human right like access to medication and food now that public transport is closed.

 

They propose that government should issue economic solutions like suspension of Loans, rent, utility bills and refund of NSSF funds.

 

This is after the country tested the rough of the 1st day of the 2 week shutdown of the public transport and markets in the event of trying to control the deadly COVID-19 or Coronavirus announced on March 25th 2020.

 

Many people who were trying their way to the villages and some workplaces trekked from their places of residence and around midmorning Police and the LDU started chasing and beating up all those motorists who defied the presidential directive because many boba boda riders had taken advantage of the situation to carry two and three passengers.

The shutdown followed five new cases of Coronavirus rising from 9 to 14 cases including two Chinese and an 8 month year old baby.

 

Meanwhile Kampala central Mp Muhammed Nsereko warned security agencies against beating Ugandans who are suffering the banning of the public transport system.

 

This followed information that security personnel’s were beating up traders at wakiseka market, and down town following the president’s directive of shutting down all shops beside those selling food staffs.
