The Bufumbira East Member of Parliament James Nsaba Buturo is planning moving a motion next week asking government to setup severe punishments against those impregnating minors.

The former Ethics and Integrity Minister Nsaba Buturo says it’s alarming to notice that there’s increase in number of early childhood deliveries especially now when schools are closed.

In June 2021, the District Bio-Statician Ali Mugerwa disclosed the data during the district stakeholder’s dialogue by the National Association of Women Organization of Uganda that a total of 1,833 girls aged between 10-19 years had been reportedly impregnated within a period of 90 days.

Now, Nsaba Bututo says it’s even worse to see that those responsible are at times left freely to move even when reported to authorities.

He however proposes that a law be enacted to punish parents who marry their children at early age and even those marring the young ones.

Nsaba Buturo also expressed concern over the decaying morals in female Mps who dress indecently when coming to parliament for legislation.
