The Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court in Kampala has set Thursday 4th May 2023 to give its ruling whether to grant bail to the State Minister for Karamoja Affairs Agnes Nandutu who is accused of dealing with suspect property.

In their submissions for bail application, Nandutu’s lawyers led by Charles Nandah raised health issues citing pressure and swelling legs and also noted that she has a right to bail determining the nature of the case she is facing.

They further contended that their client has a fixed place of abode and she is a law abiding citizen who even voluntarily surrendered herself to CID for the investigations.

However, the state led by Jonathan Muwaganya objected to the prayer for bail saying that whatever health issues are disturbing the minister can be handled at Luzira prison thus that wasn’t an issue.

He further revealed that tracing Nandutu wasn’t easy as she had abandoned her home and official vehicle and also dismissed her employee.

High court Judge Jane Okuo Kajuga has set tomorrow for the ruling.

Prosecution alleges that during the month of June 2022 at the office of the Prime Minister’s Stores in Namanve and Kkola Cell Bulwanyi Parish Mukono District Nandutu dealt with government property that is 2,000 pre-painted iron sheets gauge 28 by receiving and holding the said iron sheets.
