The State Minister for Lands Sam Mayanja has stormed the Luweero district headquarters to find out why people he had ordered back onto their land located near the district headquarters, had instead been arrested.

Early this month, Minister Mayanja ordered the cancellation of a number of land titles in Luweero town council which he said had been obtained fraudulently.

Among the canceled land titles includes one for a business man Dan Nsubuga who is seated on a 1.3 acre piece of land located between Don Petrol Station and Pension House along the Kampala-Gulu highway.

Nsubuga has been battling the family of the late Yafeesi Ssembatya for years over ownership of this land and according to Minister Mayanja, the owners were told to reoccupy their land but shortly after doing so they were arrested.

After visiting Nakaseke yesterday, he also reached Luweero and met the area Resident District Commissioner -RDC Juliet Najjuma Ssenkoole, to get answers about this land question with express orders to the RDC to ensure security to the late Ssembatya’s family.
