Uganda Manufacturers Association-UMA has petitioned the speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga rising concerns over the blocking of  Uganda’s product by Kenyan government.

According to UMA, most of the Ugandan made products like milk, Sugar and others are not allowed on the Kenyan Market yet Kenya continues to export her products to Uganda.

Now Manufacturers are calling in parliament to intervene and task government and ministry of finance to discuss with Kenya since the East African Common Market was opened with no barriers.

They have also informed Kadaga that ever since the trade barriers by Kenya, trade has reduced by 60%, GDP dropped by 3.2% from 6% industrial performance from 5.9%-2.2%.

It’s from this that Kadaga summoned Ministry of Finance to intervene before businesses close.
