Police have warned a man alleged to have kidnapped a son of his colleague over saving money, to return the boy back to his parents before a manhunt is conducted against him.

The suspect is only identified as Mumbere (30) reported to have kidnapped a 5-year old Santos Bukenya, a son of Rose Namirimu, a resident of Bulaga B in Wakiso district.

This follows a saving group meeting at Kyengera where Mumbere didn’t receive his 340,000Shs annual saving which instead was given to another group member on ground that the suspect failed to clear the debt of 700,000Shs he had borrowed two years ago from the saving group.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan says after the meeting, Mumbere kidnapped Namirimu’s son accusing her of sharing his money with another person.

He says that later, Mumbere called Namirimu informing her that she will only see her son again after clearing all his money, which prompted the complainants to lodge a case at Bulaga Police post.

Owoyesigyire says that investigations into this matter are undergoing but he appealed to Mumbere to bring back the boy he kidnapped before an order of arrest was issued.
