Police have finally arrested a man identified as Moses Menya suspected to have led a group of bodaboda riders and mechanics who killed a mourner in a passenger taxi.

Menya is said to have instigated the group to pounce on Reagan Ssentongo after an altercation he had with a bodaboda rider at Kironde zone, in Lubaga division, Kampala on July 15.

Reports show that at around 12:30pm on the fateful day, Ssentongo had an argument with a bodaboda rider only identified as Wasswa after a minor accident.

Footage from the Closed Circuit Television –CCTV cameras shows that in vengeance, Ssentongo angrily punched Wasswa who had a female passenger.

At that moment, Ssentongo was being supported by other mourners in the taxi.

The video clip showed Wasswa landing on the tarmac and the female passenger identified as Teopista raising an alarm claiming that he had died.

Teopista’s alarm attracted several respondents from Kisenyi metal yard.

A chase for Ssentongo started and he was arrested by a Police Constable who was identified as Baluku.

However, the visibly charged crowd overpowered Constable Baluku and grabbed Ssentongo from him after which he was taken to Kisenyi metal yard LCI offices where he was subjected to a beating.

Although the group later handed him over to Ndeeba Police, Ssentongo was in critical condition.
