Luweero Resident District Commissioner Richard Bwabye has warned police from taking bribes to aid illegal land evictions.
He says that the police should stop what he has termed as being used for selfish gains at the expense of the ordinary person.
Addressing reporters at the Luweero district headquarters, RDC Bwabye says that as the head of security in the district, he cannot look on as security personnel continue to be used, something he says has seen residents question why the security in the area is not fair to all than only protecting landlords against the peasants.
RDC Bwabye was commenting about the latest incident that saw Dr. Moses Muwonge, a landlord destroy his tenants’ crops, amidst some protection from police officers, in an act considered as a forceful eviction from a 500 acre piece of land at Kirimantungo village in Kamira Sub-County Nakaseke district.
