Police in the Savannah region which covers Luweero, Nakaseke & and Nakasongola districts have warned village savings groups against attacks from robbers who always strike during the festive season.

Normally, during December, most of the savings groups withdraw and share the savings for the past 12 months.

The warning follows a robbery of 19million shillings from Tukolere Wamu Development Savings Group based in Wobulenzi town council.

The group days ago, lost the cash moments after it had been withdrawn from the bank to have it shared amongst the members.

Patrick Lule, the acting Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson says that they are currently investigating the case but advised the savings groups to either embrace electronic money transfer systems or they seek for police protection.
