Voting has ended for today’s electoral exercise where Ugandans have been voting their leaders at the Electing District Local Government Councils that is : (District/City Chairpersons, Lord Mayor, Mayors, and Councillors)

Counting of votes and tallying is next at each respective polling station and district tally centers country wide.

Unlike the presidential and parliamentary elections held last Thursday this election exercise has received a low voter turn up since morning except in a few places where its reported to have had some inflow of voters this afternoon before the closure of the voting exercise.

Many have attributed the low turn up to low interest in these local administrative units, others simply do not who to vote and when.

There have also reported some cases of unregistered voters voting in other in other people’s names and ballot staffing in areas of Kawempe which forced people to call police and the army to safeguard the election.

By the end of the voting, candidates were seen transporting voters to the polling stations to vote for them.

National Unity Platform Kampala Lord mayoral candidate Nabila Naggayi has decried the election sham due to irregularities she claims to have observed in various parts of Kampala like in Kawempe where pre-ticked ballot papers were found purportedly in favour of Candidate Erias Lukwago.
