The Electoral commission (EC) has called upon Ugandans to embrace every process of the November 21 Local Council (LC) elections.

Releasing the LCI and II plus Women Councils and Committee election roadmap at EC headquarters in Kampala, the Commission’s Chairman Justice Simon Byabakama from 26th -30th October is the only time planned for the registration of voters in all villages but women will be registering on a separate registers to ease the exercise of their elections.

The display of register will be from 31st October to 1st November and who ever will miss on the register will not be allowed to participate in the elections.

Byabakama says that immediately after the Nominations on 14th November, campaigns will commence but warned against violence or any misconduct for the exercise that is to be conducted under multiparty system.

Stephen Tashobya, one of the EC commissioners emphasizes that those who may dispute the results of the vote may file petitions before the Grade One Magistrate Courts that has jurisdiction in a particular area.

The road map indicates that voter registration and compilation of village registers in all the 59,624 villages will start today October 26th to 30th 2017.

The voter shall be by lining behind the nominated candidates or their representatives.
