The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Justice Simon Byabakama has assured Ugandans that the seat for Dokolo woman member of parliament will be filled within the stipulated period as guided by the law.

The electoral commission Act directs the commission to organize any by-election of the deceased Member of Parliament within two months.

The Dokolo woman Member of Parliament seat fell vacant following the death of Hon. Cecilia Ogwal two weeks later and parliament notified the commission on 24th January 2024.

Now Byabakama noted that although they have lost about 15 days while out of office due to the expiry of their contracts, they will ensure that the vacuum created is filled within the shortest period possible.

He has also re-assured the public that they have to do all possibilities to ensure that the 2025/2026 electoral road map is implemented in July this year.
