The Uganda’s Deputy High Commissioner to South Africa, Ambassador Kintu Nyago points out the rampant land evictions plus the commercialization of politics in Uganda as dangerous to the politics of the Pearl of Africa.
He was speaking as the guest of honour during the 2023 Ignatius Kangave Musaazi Memorial Lecture held at the National Theater in Kampala.
He says with Uganda at 61, such vices would have been condemned by the late Musaazi if he was around today because he was a man of social conscience.
Ambassador Nyago now implores the youths to borrow a leaf from the legacy of Musaazi and use politics to solve societal problems.
He emphasizes that politics is not a dirty game as many would want to portray it.
He says Musaazi used politics wisely to fight against colonial rule.
Nyago says it should be only the best in society to join politics to allow for better results.
