The Minister of Gender Labour and Social Development (MGLSD) Betty Amongi has tasked the newly inaugurated Labor Advisory Board (LAB) to make sure all issues of employers and employees are worked upon hence social economic development of the country.

The 13 member board chaired by Nicholas John Okwir – Chairperson; Ex-Official for the Federation of Uganda Employers Board in close collaboration with various stakeholder, will ensure effective governance in the labour and employment affairs of the

Country, to promote fair labour practices, protect workers’ rights, and drive sustainable social- economic growth.

During the inauguration ceremony at the Ministry headquarters Simbamanyo house in Kampala Amongi said that the new LAB therefore signifies a renewed commitment by MGLSD to addressing the policy and enforcement of labour standards gaps, as well as fulfilling the objectives of the Employment and Industrial Relations.

Amongi adds that the multi-Sectoral composition of the new members of the board will contribute to the Board’s efficiency and effectiveness in decision making and overall service delivery.

Other Board members include Peter Ssamula Kiwanuka, Paul Kavuma, Beatrice Aciro, Mohammed Kabaale Ngati, Safinah Kisu Museene, Sophie Nakazzi Bawonga, Irene Lugayizi and Denis Ainebyoona.

Meanwhile Nicholas John Okwir the LAB chairperson has vowed to settle all issues of employers and employees
