The Archbishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has announced a new parish in the making of St. Denis Ssebugwawo Konge Lukuli that will make the 67th Parish in Kampala Archdiocese if innogulated.
The Sub Parish that is marking 55 years of existence under Our Lady of Mount Camel Kansanga has close to 5000 Catholics with all facilities that make it qualify to be a parish.
During a Eucharistic celebration to mark those milestones Dr. Lwanga also announced that the Congregation of the Holy Cross has been selected to take over the parish and are waiting for their selected Priest who will serve as the Parish Priest and also agree on the areas that will make its boundaries.
Dr. Lwanga hailed them for the development including a four storied building that has a multipurpose hall, a nursery school, a clinic, offices and priestly residence adding that such achievements depict commitment to their faith.
Basing on the diocesan theme; Remember, Rejoice and Renew he reminded the parishioners to trace their roots and use it as a ground for father achievements.
Creed , sacraments, and leadership are the three pillars on which the church is built that must be used to keep their identity and unity to avoid what he called spiritual malnourishment.
Dr. Lwanga urged them never to get derailed in faith and social life because of world challenges
He also graced two couples; Pinto and Naluyima Monica, Kalyesubula Henry and Nakaweesi Viola. The same function was used for a simple fundraising where the MD Centenary Bank Fabian Kassi contributed 5m and FDC represented treasurer Godfrey Ekanya 500,000/= from the party and 200,000/= from his family among others.
The head of laity of Konge Lukuli Sub Parish Paul Muyanja said they had proposed St. Denis Konge, St. Jude Kansanga, St. Balikudembe Nsambya and St. Ponsiano Munyonyo Kyamula to be their sub parishes but the Archbishop said its only the first two who accepted to join the proposed new parish the others refused which has to be settled.
