Tororo Archdiocese the animators of this year’s June 3rd  Uganda Martyrs celebrations at the Catholic Shrine Namugongo blessed all those to take pilgrimage to Namugongo with a reminder never to come for tourism, leisure or pork but Prayers.

The Archbishop Dr. Emmanuel Obbo while in the Eucharistic celebrations at Uganda Martyrs Cathedral Nyangole yesterday said a pilgrimage taken with prayer gives a believer God’s choicest blessing that each one must look for during this year’s pilgrimage.

He challenged the youth to know that the nation is counting on them hence the need for them to be disciplined and united to achieve success.

At the same function they mobilized 55 million shillings in cash and 11 million in pledges.

On May 25 the first foot pilgrims will take off from Nyangole Cathedral and will be from Bukedi Zone and on May 26th another group from Mbale called the Elgon Zone the Sabei region and Bugisu starting at St. Denis Ssebugwawo Namatala Parish in Mbale. At least 7000 foot pilgrims are expected to walk from Tororo to Namugongo.

All the foot pilgrims will first converge at Namboole stadium from where they will set off to reach Namugongo in a “triumph entry” on May 31st.

This year’s Martyrs’ day celebrations is under the theme; Let us walk in light of God as a family.
