Over 100 complaints about the high property rates in the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Valuation Court have been disposed of in the past month.

The Chairperson of this court, Samuel Muyizzi reveals that on average they conclude 7 to 10 cases in a day.

Muyizzi reveals that many objectors complain about unfair assessment from the Government Chief Valuer with much lacking information about how government valuers arrive at the amount they decide for them to pay on their properties.

One of the property rates objectors identified as Joseph Mugabi who appeared in this court complained about the 1.3 million shillings assessed for his building explaining that Government valuers also included his 5 residential rooms in their assessment yet they are not commercial.

The Valuation Court afterward reduced this amount to 620,000 shillings immediately which he has to pay to start the next financial year 2023/24.
