Kampala Capital City Authority says that community SACCOs and 7 Hills SACCO are to blame for delayed payment of casual workers.
On Monday this week casual workers through the Community SACCOs converged at city hall complaining of delayed payment of their salary for the months of September and October and other issues
Now speaking to the press in Kampala the executive Director of the Authority Dorothy Kisaka revealed that casual workers saccos delay to send payroll lists to the authority yet it also takes time for the authority to keenly review them to identify real workers.
She adds that the ministry of finance delays to release funds to the authority yet they don’t have funds for them as the authority to pay the SACCOs.
Kisaka also appealed to casual workers to stay calm since President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has already confirmed the two SACCOs that include the community and 7Hills to clean the city through two mechanisms that include KCCA recognizing them as legal entities and KCCA to pay the SACCOs directly.
She also appealed to councilors at various levels to sensitise casual workers on these mechanisms and avoid bickering among themselves
