The Katikiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga has appealed to Ugandans to discard the conspiracy theories against the AstraZeneca vaccine being used to vaccinate Ugandans against covid19.
He made the remarks at Bulange Mengo shortly after receiving his first AstraZeneca jab noting that many people are trading rumors that the vaccine was discovered to kill Africans yet it’s the same vaccine being used in other European countries.
He re-echoed the need for all Ugandans to continue following the Ministry of health guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The Minister for health in Buganda Kingdom Prosperous Nankindu Kavuma also appealed to Ugandans to come out and be vaccinated.
Dr. Rose Mutumba the Medical Director at Mengo hospital has advised Ugandans to use the available opportunity to get the AstraZeneca jab because covid19 has killed many people on the whole world.
By April 10, 2021 over 180,900 people had been vaccinated across the country yet 34 new cases had been registered.
