The Katikiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga has called on leaders to always work for the common good of all Ugandans than for personal benefits.

He said that once leaders consider serving Ugandans especially in social services like health, education and security the common interests of all Ugandans will have been fulfilled.

Mayiga made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the speaker of parliament Annet Anita Among, her deputy Thomas Tayebwa, and the Leader of Opposition at the same time paying tribute to the fallen speaker Jacob Oulanyah and also officially deliver Buganda Kingdom’s condolences.

Mayiga challenged parliament that it can only please the late Oulanya by serving Ugandans in the best way he had wished if he was still alive.

Owek Mayiga also asked leaders to always consider reconciliation as late Oulanya didn’t for his people both in leadership and the people of Uganda especially in northern Uganda where he worked tirelessly to restore peace at the time of LRA.

He has also attributed the yesterday’s reconciliation event to late Oulanya where the CJ Alfonse Owinyi Dollo paid a visit to the Kingdom of Buganda to deliver an apology after his utterance at the vigil of late Oulanya in Muyenga that caused acrimony in the public especially Buganda.

Meanwhile in reply the speaker of parliament Annet Among Anita pledged to fulfill and serve all Ugandans equally as the late would wish if he was still alive.

She further also appreciated Buganda Kingdom for the kindly heart and hospitality and promised to work with the kingdom to serve the interests of all Ugandans.
