The Chief Justice of Uganda Alfonse Owinyi- Dollo has tendered in his apology at Bulange Mengo over his remarks he made about the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
Dollo in company of members of the Inter Religious Council of Uganda – IRCU and the former Uganda People’s Congress- UPC President Dr. Olara Otunnu delivered his apology to the Kingdom officials led by the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga.
The Chief Justice this week issued a written apology for references he made about the monarch at the vigil of the fallen speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah which were widely condemned for carrying tribal undertones.
Dollo was received by the Katikkiro of Buganda who was in company of the First Deputy Katikkiro Prof. Twaha Kigongo Kaawaase, the Minister for Special Affairs in Buganda Kingdom, David Mpanga and the Speaker of the Buganda Lukiiko Patrick Luwagga Mugumbule.
The Katikkiro Peter Mayiga commended the Chief Justice for the apology and urged all Ugandans to leave what was said behind saying there is a relationship been mended between Dollo and Buganda.
Dollo who praised God for being in the middle of the reconciliation procees, said that apologizing is the only act that can resolve differences amicably and reconcile the disgruntled parties.
The officials attended the meeting praised the Chief Justice for showing maturity and exercising a sign that all differences can be resolved amicably without fighting each other.
Before, the two parties engaged in a one hour closed meeting which was attended by the top leaders of the Inter Religious Council of Uganda –IRCU including the Chairperson of the Uganda Episcopal Conference- UEC Rt. Rev. Bishop Antony Zziwa, Archbishop Church of Uganda Dr. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu and Pastor John Kakembo, president of the Adventist denomination in Uganda, among others.
