Kamuli district Woman Member of Parliament who has also been the Speaker of the 10th Parliament Rebecca Kadaga says that she is ready to submit in her documents as an expression of interest for the post of the speaker.

Kadaga who is seeking her third term as the speaker made the remarks as she was speaking to journalists after taking her Oath as the Kamuli district Woman MP while accompanied by her mother.

The Central Executive Committee of the NRM party yesterday directed all members of the NRM party who are interested in contesting for the post of the speaker and deputy speaker of Parliament to take their documents to the party’s electoral commission.

Kadaga says that if elected the speaker of the 11th parliament she plans to ensure the construction of the new chamber is completed to ensure all members of parliament can comfortably carry out their duties.

She said this after swearing in as the Kamuli district Woman Member of Parliament, the position she has served for 30years since 1989.

Kadaga has been the Speaker of Parliament for the last two terms of five years each after serving as the Deputy Speaker of Parliament for 10years under the Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi who was the Speaker by then from 2001 to 2011.
