The First Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Easter African Community Rebecca Aritwala Kadaga calls for environmental protection to save the country from environmental related disasters.

 

Uganda is faced with floods, food insecurity, draught and diseases as well as Global warming.

 

Her advice come during the Launch of 5th Edition of Sustainable development goals SDG Run, slated for Sunday 29th October 2023 at Kololo independence ground under the Theme, Running for Energy Access.

 

The SDG Run this year serves as a precursor to renewable Energy Conference and Expo emphasizing Sustainable development Goal 7 which centers on providing accessible, affordable, reliable and sustainable energy for all.

 

Kadaga adds that the SDG Run is timely and will help to senstise people and communities the need to save environment.

 

Kadaga adds that Uganda face challenges of floods, landslides, food insecurity just because have refused to save environment and this is likely to continue if nothing much is done both by public and government.

 

Meanwhile Ivan Tumuhimbise from WEF among the sponsors of 2023 SDG Run says keeping environment safe make life better as well as social and economic development of the country so it’s it needs collective action, from private sector, civil society, government, non state entities to protect environment.
