The Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi ll has cautioned youth against flocking to cities after selling their ancestral land in villages.

Selling ancestral land to get capital and income to start up businesses and buying of boda bodas or cars has dominated communities especially in the central region which has left family homes and burial sites cleared when buyers come to clear land for development.

In some incidents elders are caught ignorant and are evicted mercilessly although in other incidences investors have also caused land evictions.

While delivering his speech at the 30th Coronation Anniversary at Mengo Palace on Monday, Kabaka Mutebi noted that youths should stay in villages and also ensure the land is not sold.

He further warned young people against travelling abroad for jobs since most of the Labour Export company owners are in this business only to make money though it enslaves Ugandans.

Kabaka has also expressed dissatisfaction over the increased mistreatment of fishermen on the lake since the deployment of the UPDF army.

Before, the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga called upon the Kabaka’s subjects never to relent in love and support for their Kingdom and the five aspiration pillars that will spur the Kingdom development.

The 30th Coronation Anniversary of the Kabaka of Buganda has been under the theme; “focus on supporting clans to entrench he kingdom”.
