Joint Medical Stores (JMS) has disclosed that its plans of constructing oxygen production plants will be completed by October this year.

 

During the peak of Covid-19, African countries include Uganda witnessed a number of deaths due to shortage of oxygen for patients of which was attributed by some experts to the two multinational gas suppliers who dominated the market and hiked the prices for oxygen cylinders, making treatment unaffordable.

 

Delivering his key note address at the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB) annual health assembly today in Nsambya, Dr. Bildard Baguma, and the Executive Director for JMS says the production process of Oxygen will start by the end of December 2021 with the capacity of 120 cylinders of 6.8 cubic meters per day.

 

He says that they will meet health facilities to sign the Memorandum of Understanding agreements of purchasing for these Oxygen cylinders.
