The Ministry of Internal affairs has set to start destroying uncollected passports which were processed and produced in 2018.

Last week, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that it will start on the process of destroying about 30,000 passports which remain uncollected at their Kyambogo passport collection center in a bid to create more storage for passports following resumption of production of passports at a full capacity

Simon Peter Mundeyi, the Ministry’s Spokesperson revealed that they still have passports which were processed and produced in 2018 when the country shifted from Machine readable passports to East African Electronic passports

Mundeyi also says that people who applied for passports from 2021 and backwards will not be necessary for them to present an SMS that invites them to collect their passports when they go to Kyambogo as long as they have a slip.

Meanwhile, Mundeyi has revealed that they have deployed 16 people including ladies to man their newly launched call center but he warned those calling for inquiries against using abusive language and sweet talking their ladies.
