Ministry of Internal Affairs is to close for two days on Thursday and Friday this week for system upgrade and maintenance.

This is intended to improve its efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery in the Ministry of Internal Affairs after 19th and 20th January 2023 system upgrade.

This upgrade will affect all passport services which among others include   passport applications, printing collection, scheduling appointments and closure of their offices across the country together with their offices in Diaspora.

Speaking to the press at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala, the Commissioner Citizenship and Passport Control in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Brigadier General Johnson Namanya says this upgrade will affect over 6000 people expected to receive services.

He says that those who had scheduled appointments at their offices will not be served in this period but will be worked on next week after upgrading the system.

Namanya also emphasizes that this upgrade will address some complaints of delay of issuing passports.
