The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has released the results for August 2023 exam diet, showing a slight increase of 0.3 percent in performance.

The exam results which were released by the Public Accountants Examination Board (PAEB) chairperson Prof. Laura Aseru Orobia indicated an increase in average subject pass rate to 32.9 from 32.6% in June 2023.

Prof. Orobia noted that the August first had poor performance of the pass rate below 20% in four core subjects including Financial Management, Advanced Financial Reporting, Public Financial Management and Advanced Financial Management.

She noted that there is a possibility of passing accidentally or by chance due to the spotting or selective preparation that was discovered among the candidates.

CPA Josephine Okui Ossiya, the President of ICPAU congratulated all the candidates who passed the examination papers and the top candidates in the various subjects.

A total of 3,919 candidates sat the September exams with females contributing to 2,144 (54.7%) and males to 1,775 (45.3%).

The overall subject pass rate for female candidates was 34.1% compared to 31.5% of their male counterparts and 13 (61.9%) of the top candidates were females whereas males were 8 (38.1%).

There were 64 candidates who completed the CPA course of which 35 of them (54.7%) are female and 29 (45.3) are male.

The cumulative number of students that have completed the CPA course now stands at 4,958 with females contributing to 39.1% (1,942) and male at 60.9% (3,016)
