The High Court has released a four month baby that was detained by Rosewell women and children Hospital as a security for unpaid medical bills.

In the last court session, the presiding Judge Esta Nambayo ordered for a DNA test after the mother failed to identify her baby in Court.

On Friday, the hearing resumed before her and DNA results were received which proved that the baby belongs to the couple; Soloome and Bridges Alinda, court has handed over the baby to them.

Their defense lawyers led by Geoffrey Turyamussima after the court told journalists that they are satisfied with the court ruling and ready to take the next step of the same case.

The court has now fixed 17th October 2023 for cross examination.

The couple; Soloome and Bridges Alinda dragged the hospital to Court for allegedly refusing to release their newborn baby over an accumulated bill of Shs4.4 million.

However, according to the Hospital’s advocate Ssemakula Mukiibi, the baby was kept at a baby care home at Loving Heart having been deserted by his parents, hence involving KCCA to have the baby taken in safe care.

The baby has been in Hospital custody since May 2023.
