Ministry of Health has warned schools against cancelling visitation days of parents amid the global Corona Virus pandemic.

On Tuesday this week, some schools started issuing circulars, cancelling visitations while other suspended lesions as a preventive measure.

Those that have so far cancelled school visitations are Namugongo Girls Primary School and Mugwanya Preparatory School Kabojja which had scheduled to have them this weekend.

Speaking to the press on Thursday at the Ministry headquarters in Wandegeya, the Minister for Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng says that having not registered any COVID-19 case in the country, there is no need for the schools to suspend lessons and stop parents from visiting their children.

She adds that every public place and gathering include schools, churches, mosques, football stadiums and pitches, video halls, clubs, ministries and police stations among others are required to put in place prevention mechanisms.

Some of the measures recommended by the education ministry include washing hands regularly using hand sanitizers or soap and water, staying one meter away from people with cough and flu.

The ministry has also asked learners to avoid touching their faces and advised people with flu and cough to wear facial masks.

The guidelines also require people with fevers or breathing difficulty to seek medical help.
