Police in Busoga East has confirmed the arrest of Joshua Mutundi, a records officer at Buwaiswa Health Center III in Buwaya Sub-County in Mayuge district for alleged defilement.
Mutundi, who is locked up at Mayuge Central Police Station is accused of defiling a 16-year-old girl.
He reportedly committed the offense on Tuesday afternoon when the teenager visited the facility as an outpatient.
When heavy rains began, Mutundi offered to shelter her in one of the rooms at the health center.
It is alleged that he took advantage of the situation and sexually assaulted the teenager.
According to the victim’s account, Mutundi restrained her by covering her mouth and tying her to a metallic bed before subjecting her to repeated acts of defilement.
Distressed and bleeding, the victim managed to escape to a nearby residence, where her parents were contacted.
They promptly rushed her to Mayuge Central Police Station.
The victim’s mother revealed that her daughter had been experiencing persistent headaches, which prompted her to seek treatment at the facility where she became a victim of defilement.
Mayuge District Police Commander, Agnes Aanyu, confirmed Mutundi’s arrest on two counts of defilement and child trafficking.
