The King of Rwenzururu, Charles Wesley Mumbere, has cancelled his coronation anniversary ceremony that was schedule for the 19th of this month due to harsh bail terms put on him by the Jinja High Court.

He was to mark his 51st coronation anniversary since King Mumbere succeeded the first Rwenzururu leader, Isaya Mukirania Kibazanga.

In a message delivered by the Kingdom attorney general, Alfred Makasi, King Mumbere said he holds full responsibilities and rights to such functions but he cannot do them since there is no access to his kingdom.

King Mumbere last week appeared at Jinja Deputy Registrar’s chamber for the extension of his bail period, where he is accused along with others over charges of; treason, terrorism and murder in connection to the November 27, raid on his palace by security organs which left over 100 royal guards, police and army officers dead.

However Makasi says the kingdom is in talks with government to find ways of restoring peace and harmony in the kingdom.
