Government has set from 20th to 23rd February, a period for the admission of candidates into the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutes across the country.

Students will be admitted on National Vocational Certificate Programs with a minimum qualification of S4 certificate and Uganda community polytechnic certificate programs with a minimum qualification of a P7 certificate.

The decentralized admission of students will be done in various regions that include Ntinda Vocational Technical Institute for central region, St.Kizito Technical Institute Madera in Soroti City Eastern Uganda, Nyamitanga Technical Institute in Mbarara City for western region and Northern Uganda Youth Development Centre in Omoro district for northern region.

Speaking to the press at the Uganda media centre on Tuesday, the Commissioner In-charge of Technical and Vocational Institute at the Ministry of Education and Sports, Joy Muchwezi called upon Ugandans to embrace vocational studies since students graduate with skills that don’t require them to look for jobs.

She also advised graduates with degrees to put their pride aside and learn one module that may help them have skills and start their own jobs.

Muchwezi also noted that many students have embraced vocational studies and their numbers have grown from 8665 in 2021 to 11,682 in 2022 and they project it to increase to 15,187 this year hence revealing some of the reasons for this increase.
