Government has been given up to tomorrow to respond to the demands of the Opposition in Parliament which have paralyzed the operations of the August House.

This has been communicated by Speaker of Parliament Anita Among while opening to the House this afternoon.

For the past four weeks, the Opposition have been on a boycotted of Parliament’s plenary sittings in protest while demanding a response from the Government on the 18 missing NUP supporters, violation of human rights, kidnaps, long detection without trial among others.

In her communication to the House, the Speaker noted that the Government had to bring the report on the missing 18 people last week but the Minister for Security Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi wrote to her asking for one week extension to present the report since they were all going to attend a very important security meeting outside the country and now that the week has elapsed, the Speaker has ordered the Government to bring the report tomorrow.

Among also asked Ministers always to be accountable and transparent to the country.

In response the third Deputy Prime Minister Lukia Nakadama assured the House that the Government is ready to respond to the Opposition demand.

Additionally also the Vice President Jessica Alupo told the House that the same matter had been discussed yesterday in the cabinet meeting and President Museveni  directed the responsible ministers to  answer to the queries demanded by Opposition.
